Davies wins Surf Classic!
The contest was held successfully over the 3 days of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of November, coinciding with great weather conditions and surf ranging from 2-4 feet over the course of the weekend.
In the past the event has been run in the last
few weeks of November, rather than the first week as happened
this year. The change of dates for the competition meant, that the
2007 Classic did not clash with the junior national titles as in
past years. Thus the huge amount of junior entrants this year,
well exceeded the number anticipated and additional rounds were put
on. We had some of the best juniors from the state competing this
year some hailing from as far as north as Kalbarri and as far
east as Hopetoun.
It was great to accumulate some big draw cards as well as standout locals to the event including: Paul Patterson, Dave Macaulay, Yadin Nicole, Jake Jakovich, Kirby Brown and Tom Innes. The Talent that was on show in every division throughout the weekend was nothing short of brilliant.
The presentations were held at 6.30 pm Sunday at the Settlers Tavern, with over 200 people attending the ceremony, and a great night was had by all.
The generous publicity that the event received included printed media appearing in the Augusta Margaret River Mail, the Margaret River Times, the Sunday Times, and was also televised on GWN and across numerous Internet websites.
